The Aim of this Bachelor Degree Course of Study
The course major, Security Law and Legalities in Public Administration, is a Bachelor degree study programme aimed at preparing professionals (interdisciplinary trained security experts) for positions ranging from the public to private sector. These positions can range from management in public administration, managers of security in the private sector, executives responsible for needs-specific safety in the business field, qualified security experts on policies within the Czech Republic and other commercial environments. The programme curriculum is closely linked to the security policy implemented within the security system of the Czech Republic and builds on several of the following principles:General Knowledge – Themes and topics of the course focus on general concepts of legal, managerial, economic and social science disciplines. This branch of study explores a wide range of legal subjects. Required coursework includes foundations of EU law and the international community, as well as how these apply to the Czech Republic, basic theory of law, the principles of constitutional law, the basics of criminal law, and other courses involving Czech regulations and its legal system. The knowledge gained will form a basis for building a better understanding of public and private relations, and developing skills and competencies in this area. Managerial disciplines are aimed at applications management in areas of crisis management where students will learn about the foundations and theory of security, critical infrastructure protection in dealing with emergencies or crisis situations ( MU, KS) among other issues of this field. Special attention is given to national security, the implementation of measures to ensure protection of the population against the effects of extraordinary events. Students will acquire theoretical knowledge and practical skills such as how to manage small work teams.
Professional Specialisation
Professional Specialisation is the common theoretical basis of this study programme which focuses on the basics of individual legal and safety disciplines, on learning the essentials of risk, its manifestations and classifications, and identifying types of risks. This will include mastering specialised terminology, techniques and information needed about Information Technology (IT). In this course of study, students will acquire basic knowledge about the components of the integrated rescue and response service (Integrovaný záchranný system known as IZS) of the Czech Republic. Students will also gain an understanding of the armed security forces and the reasoning of their operations. Special attention is also given to safety and security strategies and their implementation to ensure public safety for individuals and property in regions and municipalities of a wider range.In specific areas of this course, attention focuses on preparing students with the knowledge, skills, abilities and competencies in obtaining what is needed to be able to administer the implementation of crisis management, protection of the public, and how to deal with an economic crisis, critical infrastructure protection, criminology, crime prevention, political right-wing and left-wing extremism, organised crime and terrorism on a national, or even international level.
